Limitations on Liability:
While our warranty is excellent, there are some limits to it. Any of the following shall void and invalidate our warranty.
1. Improper maintenance or care – Your Schreffler Custom Floor requires maintenance. Please follow the instructions that are recommended by Schreffler Custom Flooring. Schreffler’s will not replace or repair a floor that is damaged by improper maintenance or inadequate care.
2. Accidents, abuse or abnormal wear – This warranty does not cover damage resulting from accidents or abuses that stain or scratch the finish, diminish the gloss or indent the surface of the wood. Including, but not limited to: scratches to finish from furniture or animals, smudges or smears, or dulling from use, abuse, or any chemical cleaning products, and damage made by animal products or by products. It also does not cover damage caused by heave of concentrated foot traffic.
3. Indentations from stiletto heels on shoes – A stiletto heel can concentrate as much as 2,000 lbs. per square inch on the floor. This type of heel has a diameter of approximately 3/8” thick, and walking on any wood surface with this type of heel is considered an abusive situation. Schreffler’s will not replace or repair any floor damaged by stiletto heels on shoes.
4. Problems with moisture or dryness – This warranty does not cover damage caused by wetting or the presence of excessive moisture or by conditions that are too dry. Please see our humidity level information for proper humidity levels for a home with wood floors.
5. UV light exposure – Even normal exposure to UV light can bring about color changes in wood flooring. Use shades and draperies to your advantage and rearrange furniture and area rugs as often as necessary to avoid irregularities in color.
6. Difference from samples – This warranty does not cover the differences that can be seen between color of samples and the color of the installed wood floor. Wood is a natural product and will have color variation within the species and grade of the wood.

If you want your wood floor to remain beautiful for years to come, we recommend that you:
- Sweep and vacuum regularly to rid your floor of dust and eliminate abrasives that can scratch the finish.
- Quickly wipe up spills from floor to protect wood from excess liquid.
- Use mats outside and inside entrances to prevent sand and abrasive build-up on floor. Avoid rubber or other dense mat backings that prevent airflow beneath rugs and retain abrasives and humidity.
- Use mats near sinks, dishwashers and workstations to protect floor from cooking utensils, water spills, detergents, oils and other kitchen mishaps.
- Stick felt pads under any furniture or chair legs to ease movement and prevent scratches. Keep pads clean at all times and regularly check for signs of wear.
- Protect your floor when moving heavy furniture and appliances. Use a reversed mat or smaller piece of cardboard. Place furniture on this and move smoothly over floor.
- Be careful with pointed objects such as stiletto heeled shoes and sport shoes that may damage the finish of your floor.
- Keep pet claws trimmed to avoid scratching floors.
- Occasionally move furniture and carpets around and reduce intense light sources to minimize color contrasts.
- Only use Bona cleaning system to clean your hardwood floors.
Things to avoid:
- Never pour cleaner or any other liquid directly on the surface of the wood floor.
- Do not use a wet mop that leaves excess water.
- Do not use wax, oil-based detergents, Murphy’s oil soap, vinegar, or any other cleaning agents on your floor since these products may dull or damage the finish, leave a greasy film that makes floors slippery, and makes maintenance more difficult.
You may purchase additional supplies: Bona cleaner, replacement mop heads, as well as protective furniture pads by stopping in our showroom
