Homeowner Checklist for Hardwood Floor Installation

We’re excited to install your new hardwood floors! To ensure a smooth, on-time project and the highest quality results, please complete the checklist below before your scheduled installation date.

🧹 Phase 1: Prepare Your Space
Please make sure the installation areas are fully ready before we arrive:
  • Clear all furniture, rugs, décor, and personal belongings
  • Remove existing flooring (if agreed upon), or confirm we are handling removal
  • Ensure subfloor is clean, dry, and free of debris (dust, pet hair, etc.)
  • Remove or secure wall hangings, curtains, and blinds
  • Remove or adjust baseboards, trim, or molding (or confirm we will handle it)
  • Prepare doors for trimming if needed (or confirm we will handle it)
Our Team Will:
  • Inspect and verify subfloor is flat and structurally sound

📦 Phase 2: Material Storage & Acclimation
Proper storage is critical for a successful installation.
  • Provide a dry, indoor storage area (spare room, living room, etc.)
  • ❗ Do NOT use garages or basements (moisture risk)
  • Maintain conditions:
    • Temperature: 60–80°F
    • Humidity: 35–55%
  • Ensure space is accessible and clear
Our Team Will:
  • Deliver materials
  • Confirm proper acclimation before installation

🌡️ Phase 3: Environmental Conditions
Your home environment must be stable before and during installation:
  • HVAC system must be running for at least 48 hours prior
  • Maintain:
    • Temperature: 60–80°F
    • Humidity: 35–55%
  • Ensure no moisture issues (leaks, spills, humidity)
  • Keep windows and doors closed
  • Provide adequate lighting in work areas
Our Team Will:
  • Perform moisture testing if needed

🚪 Phase 4: Access & Scheduling
Help us stay efficient and on schedule:
  • Ensure work areas are free during installation hours (e.g., 8 AM – 4 PM)
  • Provide clear pathways for materials and equipment
  • Arrange parking or driveway access
  • Keep pets and children away from work areas
  • Be available (or assign a contact person)

🧩 Phase 5: Project Details & Preferences
Let’s finalize the details before we begin:
  • Provide or confirm supply of transitions, thresholds, or reducers
  • Confirm layout preferences (plank direction, patterns) in writing
  • Protect adjacent areas (or confirm we will handle protection)
Our Team Will:
  • Install underlayment/moisture barriers as required
  • Install flooring according to agreed specifications

✅ Phase 6: After Installation
A few final steps after your floor is complete:
  • Confirm who will handle debris and old flooring disposal
  • Avoid heavy furniture and foot traffic for 24–48 hours (as required)
  • Schedule a final walkthrough with our team
Our Team Will:
  • Review the completed project with you
  • Provide care and maintenance instructions
